A 44-year-old worker died after a freak accident when shattered glass struck him outside an office building in Kuala Lumpur

The man, a Pakistani national, was reportedly disposing of office windows yesterday, 25 February, when the incident occurred.

According to the New Straits Times, he was throwing windows into a rubbish bin outside the premises when shards of glass struck him.

Wangsa Maju district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Lazim Ismail said police were alerted to the incident at 4.44pm

"During the incident, the victim was disposing of office windows into a rubbish bin located below the building," Mohamad Lazim said.

The glass shattered unexpectedly, with sharp shards striking the man's arm.

This caused severe lacerations and led to massive bleeding, which proved fatal.

Medical personnel arrived at the scene shortly after but could only confirm the victim had died.

The case has been classified as sudden death

Authorities have taken the body to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital forensic unit for a post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.
