2 Women Arrested For Allegedly Pretending To Be Police Veterans & Asking For Donations

Both women tested negative for drugs, and checks revealed they had no prior criminal records.

Police in Hulu Selangor have arrested two women who allegedly posed as members of a police veterans association while attempting to solicit donations from a scrap metal trader

According to Hulu Selangor police, the incident occurred around 6pm on Monday, 3 November, reported the New Straits Times.

A local scrap metal businessman operating at BT 39 along the Kuala Lumpur–Tanjung Malim route reported that the women approached him and requested RM1,000, claiming it was a donation for the association.

Officers from the Hulu Selangor MPV unit were dispatched to the scene and arrested the suspects, aged 23 and 37.

Police also seized several items, including a silver Perodua Myvi, RM550 in cash, vehicle keys, receipt books and association-related documents, a pink-red bag, and two silver chains.

The pair were taken to the Kuala Kubu Baru magistrate's court for a remand application on Tuesday, 4 November.

The case is being investigated under Section 419 of the Penal Code for cheating by impersonation and Section 3(3) of the House-to-House and Street Collections Act 1947, which carries a penalty of up to seven years' jail, a fine, or both, if convicted.
