A woman's heartfelt LinkedIn post about a surprise encounter with one of Asia's most prominent bankers took an unexpected turn — when the banker himself chimed in to say she had mistaken him for someone else

In her now-viral post, Janney Hujic shared that she had a chance meeting with a person she believed was Piyush Gupta, the former CEO of DBS Bank, in a quiet café tucked away in Bali.

"It was the last place I expected to meet one of Asia's most respected CEOs," she wrote, describing the man as casually dressed, humble, and entirely unassuming.

"What struck me wasn't just the legendary career — transforming DBS into a global digital banking leader — but the humility and presence with which he carried himself. No entourage. No airs. Just quiet conviction," she added.

She included a photo of herself with the man and reflected on how the brief interaction reminded her that "the best leaders don't just inspire with their words — they lead by how they show up in the world."

The post quickly gained traction, receiving over 1,200 likes and dozens of reposts, with many praising both the encounter and the supposed humility of the well-known banker.

Then came the twist.

Among the comments was one from the real Piyush Gupta: "Sorry to disillusion you. That isn't me!"

The lighthearted response from Gupta amused many LinkedIn users.

However, many are now questioning whether Hujic's mix-up was a genuine mistake or a clever ploy for attention.

Interestingly, the post is still up and unedited at the time of writing, even after she has acknowledged Gupta's response.
