We all know how sharp eagle-eyed flight attendants can be when it comes to noticing if our seats are not in the upright position or if our seatbelts are not fastened

So, you can imagine Tiffani O'Brien's shock when she woke up to a dark and empty plane hours after the plane landed

Tiffani O'Brien was a passenger on board a domestic flight on Air Canada, when she fell asleep mid-flight.

She woke up hours later to a dark and empty plane.

Cold and alone, she immediately texted her friend who had been waiting for her to check in after landing.

O'Brien's phone ran out of battery as she tried to FaceTime her friend. To make matters worse, she was unable charge her phone because the plane's power was switched off.

She made her way to the cockpit where she tried to use the radio to call for help.

Unfortunately, that did not work either because of the lack of power.

Luckily, she was able to find a flashlight.

"I was so happy," O'Brien told CTV News. "That was like the best moment ever."

She then started making "SOS signals" out the plane's windows, hoping to catch someone's attention.

When that did not work, she decided to try to open the main cabin door

She eventually succeeded and was able to get the ground crew's attention by hanging her body out of the door and reflecting the flashlight off the side of the plane.

Meanwhile, her friend called the airport and told them about O'Brien's situation.

The airline has since apologised and said they will be doing an investigation

The company also offered her a limo and hotel room after she was rescued, which she declined because she just wanted "to go home".

According to The Washington Post, O'Brien has since been suffering from insomnia and "reoccurring night terrors".
