Businesswoman Charged With Murder Of 7-Year-Old In Johor, Faces Possible Death Penalty

A 55-year-old businesswoman was charged at the Johor Bahru Magistrate's Court today, 9 January 2026, with the murder of a 7-year-old boy

According to Harian Metro, Saniah Osman appeared sombre as the charge was read before Magistrate Nabilah Nizam.

The accused nodded to indicate her understanding of the proceedings.

The alleged incident took place in the living room of a house located in Taman Kota Masai, Pasir Gudang.

According to the charge sheet, the alleged crime occurred between 7.30pm on 29 December and 1.30am on 30 December 2025

Saniah was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty or a prison sentence of 30 to 40 years upon conviction.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Nor Deana Aqilah Aliman led the prosecution during the morning session.

The court denied bail and set 9 March 2026 as the next mention date for the case

This timeline will allow authorities to obtain the necessary post-mortem, chemical, and DNA reports.

No plea was recorded during the session as murder cases fall under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
