A widow in Shanghai discovered that her late husband had spent nearly 20 million yuan (RM11.6 million) on a secret mistress over seven years
While sorting through her late husband's personal belongings, she discovered he had spent seven years leading a double life.
According to South China Morning Post, the woman, surnamed Shen, married her husband, Jin, in July 1999. They built a life together over two decades, raising a son and a daughter, until Jin died in May 2022.
It was only then that Shen realised her late husband had been funnelling a staggering 20 million yuan (RM11.6 million) to another woman.

The discovery of the long-term affair with a woman, surnamed Tao, prompted an immediate legal battle to reclaim the family's assets
Shen and her children filed a lawsuit to nullify the massive gifts, arguing that the funds belonged to the marital estate.
The court agreed, ruling that Jin's unilateral decision to transfer such a significant amount of money to Tao was legally invalid.
Although Tao had already returned 5.4 million yuan (RM3.1 million) to Jin during his lifetime, a significant balance remained.
The court ordered Tao to repay the remaining 14 million yuan (RM8.2 million) to the grieving family.
Tao attempted to appeal the decision, but the Shanghai First Intermediate People's Court stood firm.
The judges determined that the extramarital affair and subsequent gifts violated both the wife's financial rights and general public morals.
