A storm, possibly a tornado, struck several areas in Meru and Kuala Langat, Selangor yesterday, 15 October, damaging homes, schools, and vehicles

According to Selangor Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) director Colonel (PA) Fazlisyah Muslim, the storm was reported in areas including Jalan Mohd Sharif 1, Taman Daya Meru, Jalan Puding, Jalan Paip, and around Sijangkang.

He added that no official information has been received so far about the opening of new relief centres in Teluk Panglima Garang and Kuala Langat.

Viral videos on social media showed a powerful storm, followed by what appeared to be a tornado, causing major damage in Teluk Panglima Garang

Buildings at SK Sijangkang, SK Kampung Medan, and SRA Kampung Medan all suffered damage.

The vortex was so powerful that it uprooted road barriers and sent them flying into the air. Footage taken by residents showed severe damage at SK Sijangkang, with walls collapsing and the school's roof completely torn off.

A powerful storm struck several areas around Meru and Kuala Langat yesterday afternoon, 15 October, leaving behind widespread damage to homes, schools, and vehicles. According to the Selangor Civil Defence Force, the storm affected Jalan Mohd Sharif 1, Taman Daya Meru, Jalan Puding, Jalan Paip, and parts of Sijangkang, Kuala Langat. One of the worst-hit locations was SK Sijangkang Jaya, where strong winds ripped off roofs and caused parts of the building to collapse. Viral videos also showed tornado-like winds sweeping through Teluk Panglima Garang, uprooting barriers and damaging nearby schools.
