An 85-year-old woman narrowly escaped death after her car overturned and caught fire along Persiaran Bandar Utama, with three bystanders stepping in just in time to pull her from the wreckage

The incident occurred around 3.35pm on Sunday, 29 March, near the BU2 park in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya.

The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department, in a statement yesterday, 31 March, said a team from the Damansara station was dispatched after receiving an emergency call.

Eight firefighters, along with a fire engine and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle, were sent to the scene.

By the time they arrived, the car was already fully engulfed in flames. The department said it was completely destroyed, with thick smoke billowing into the air.

However, the woman had already been pulled to safety by bystanders before firefighters arrived.

She sustained multiple injuries and was later handed over to Health Ministry personnel and taken to Hospital Sungai Buloh for further treatment.

While the fire had not fully taken hold, the flipped car made the rescue more difficult.

Their quick coordination allowed them to extract her in time, just moments before the flames engulfed the vehicle.
