A video has gone viral showing a university student allegedly attempting to film under a woman's skirt in front of Lot 10 shopping mall in Bukit Bintang

In the one-minute-15-second clip, the young man is seen placing his phone inside a shopping bag and positioning it beneath a woman's skirt as they crossed the road.

Friends of the victim who noticed his actions quickly intervened — the victim's boyfriend grabbed his arm and held him in a headlock, while others demanded he unlock his phone.

After he was subdued, a man appearing to be a police officer arrived to handle the situation.

The video was shared on Facebook by the victim's friend who was at the scene, advising other women to always stay vigilant

She expressed frustration, saying, "There are really people like this — looking all proper and decent, yet secretly filming under girls' skirts."

"Girls really have to be extra, extra careful when going out. Sometimes, it's not that we're overthinking things.

"Things like this do happen. But if more women and men with a sense of justice are willing to speak up and take action, the world will be a better place," she wrote.

She added that after the man was detained, they went to the police station, where they were told that an investigation paper would be opened

However, the woman said her friends might also face legal consequences, as they had used force to obtain evidence from the suspect's phone.

According to her, her friends discovered about 500GB worth of upskirt videos on his phone, suggesting many more victims were involved.

She also clarified that the purpose of sharing the video on social media was not to portray her friends as heroes, but to raise awareness about the prevalence of such predators, claiming that the young man is a university student in Cyberjaya.

"My friends found thousands of upskirt videos in this man's phone. Ladies, if you're wearing a skirt, it's best to also wear safety pants," she advised.

At the time of writing, the police have yet to release a statement on the matter.
