A viral video has captured a heartwarming moment when a man surprised his parents with an unexpected homecoming after spending nine years abroad

Shared by his sister, @aenisuhana, on Threads, the clip shows the man approaching his parents while wearing sunglasses and a face mask.

His sister, Aeni Suhana, 30, explained that the family had planned a small surprise before he arrived — including hiding their mother's bag to create a distraction.

"Surprising Mama and Abah with my younger brother's return from Korea after nine years abroad.

"At that moment, Mama was already getting anxious because she couldn't find her bag… We actually hid the bag first," she wrote in the caption.

Moments later, her younger brother, Muhammad, 29, walked up to their parents holding the missing bag and handed it to their mother

Not realising it was her own son, the mother calmly checked the bag to make sure nothing was missing.

However, everything changed when he removed his mask.

His mother immediately burst into tears and stood up to hug him tightly. Meanwhile, his father appeared to be holding back tears before his son also pulled him into an embrace.

"They were hugs filled with longing. Abah looked like he was trying to hold back his tears," said Aeni.

Speaking to SAYS, Aeni shared that the reunion took place in their hometown of Kampung Paloh Satu in Gua Musang, Kelantan, just ahead of the Hari Raya holidays

She added that her brother has been working in South Korea for several years to focus on his career, making it difficult for him to return home.

"We planned a small surprise because our parents didn't know he was coming back. When he appeared, they were very emotional and happy to finally see him again after such a long time," she said.

The heartwarming video has since touched thousands online, with many netizens saying they were also moved to tears by the reunion

"Ahh we're crying too," one netizen commented.

"Why are you making us cry? Ya Allah, I miss my mother's hugs," another wrote.

"Why is this video so blurry?" someone else joked.
