A sudden downpour early this morning, 10 July, triggered flash floods on Mount Kinabalu, turning descent routes into dangerous torrents and putting climbers in serious danger

Daily Express reported that the situation escalated around 6am, with powerful streams of water rushing down the mountain as climbers made their way towards Panalaban Base Camp.

Videos circulating on social media show climbers clinging to safety ropes while wading through the surging floodwaters.

One clip noted that temperatures had dropped to 1°C, with winds blowing at speeds of up to 20km/h, making the situation even more challenging.

Fortunately, according to The Borneo Post, no injuries have been reported.
