A senior police officer undergoing treatment for schizophrenia was arrested yesterday, 13 April, following a high-speed chase through Kuala Lumpur
The 40-year-old inspector, who is currently on medical leave pending recommended retirement, was detained at 3.45pm in Chan Sow Lin after a pursuit that began along Jalan Cheras.
According to the New Straits Times, Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the suspect had been sought after allegedly ramming an on-duty policeman along Jalan Sultan Yahya Petra last Friday, 10 April.
"The driver fled without offering assistance. The victim sustained injuries to his head, right palm, and ribs, and received treatment at Kuala Lumpur Hospital," he said.

The hit-and-run, which was captured on CCTV and widely circulated on social media, showed a Perodua Axia veering off the road and striking the officer who was directing traffic
According to Bernama, 27-year-old Constable Roslan Salleh was hit from behind during the incident at 10.47pm last Friday.

Police located the suspect's vehicle yesterday evening, but the driver attempted to escape
"During the pursuit, the suspect drove dangerously and rammed into several vehicles, including a Mercedes-Benz, a Proton Saga, and a police patrol car," Fadil said.
The police chief added that seven reports regarding yesterday's incident have been lodged so far, involving five civilian vehicles, one police MPV, and a motorcycle.

The suspect was eventually apprehended. A breathalyser test returned negative, while urine test results are pending.
The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act for reckless driving and Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant.
