A group of male students from SMK Darul Ehsan in Batu Caves has drawn public backlash after a video of them vaping in a surau near their school went viral on social media platforms

The school has expressed serious concern over the incident.

"The school takes this breach seriously. The surau is a sacred space for worship and must be respected by all members of the school community. Such actions not only tarnish the sanctity of the house of Allah, but also violate school regulations and relevant laws," the school said in a statement via its Facebook.

The school also said that the management will take disciplinary action against the students involved, in line with existing guidelines

To prevent such incidents from happening again, the school also said it will be ramping up monitoring efforts and rolling out awareness programmes to educate students about proper conduct.

"We call on all students to uphold good manners and obey the rules, for the benefit of everyone," it said.

In the video, a group of four students dressed in the school's purple sportswear can be seen casually sharing a vape, passing it among themselves and even attempting to blow smoke rings

They were later joined by a fifth student, followed by a larger group, all of whom were also seen vaping and passing the devices around.
