There will be no toll hikes for 10 major highway concessionaires in 2026, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said
He said the decision, following a similar move this year, will have financial implications for the government, which will need to compensate the concessionaires.
"Yesterday, it was decided that for 2026, the 10 highway concessions — which will be detailed by the Ministry of Works — will not see any toll increases," Fahmi said.
He added that the cost of the toll freeze will be borne by the government, with further details to be announced by the Works Ministry.
The New Straits Times previously reported that in July this year, the government absorbed more than RM500 million to prevent toll hikes on 10 major expressways.

According to recent official statements, the same group of highways will not see toll hikes in 2026
The 10 highways involved are:
- Kuala Lumpur–Putrajaya Expressway (MEX)
- Duta–Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE)
- South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE)
- Cheras–Kajang Expressway (GRANDSAGA)
- KL–Kuala Selangor Expressway (LATAR)
- Senai–Desaru Expressway (SDE)
- East Coast Expressway Phase 2 (LPT2)
- New North Klang Straits Bypass (NNKSB)
- Butterworth Outer Ring Road (LLB)
- Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Bridge (Penang Second Bridge)
The toll freeze is expected to benefit about 941,000 daily commuters
The Ministry of Finance will compensate the concessionaires to ensure toll rates remain unchanged.
Separately, highways such as KESAS, LDP, SPRINT, and SMART are already under long-term agreements, keeping toll rates unchanged until their concession period ends.
