PM's Extra Hari Raya Holiday Announcement Means Malaysians Will Enjoy A 4-Day Weekend
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has announced that Malaysians will receive an additional public holiday for this year's Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations
Speaking during the launch of the National Consumers Day on Sunday, 15 March, Anwar said the extra holiday will depend on when Aidilfitri falls.
If Hari Raya is celebrated on Friday, 20 March, the following Monday, 23 March, will be declared an additional public holiday.
If Aidilfitri instead falls on Saturday, 21 March, the additional public holiday will be given on Friday, 20 March, he said.
Anwar said the announcement was made early to allow Malaysians to plan their festive holidays and travel
"Whether Aidilfitri is celebrated on Friday or Saturday, there is no need to worry, we will provide an additional Hari Raya holiday," he said.

In a Facebook post later the same day, Anwar said the government had introduced several initiatives ahead of the festive season
He added that the Festive Season Maximum Price Scheme for Aidilfitri will also be implemented to help keep essential goods reasonably priced.
The price control scheme, which came into effect yesterday, 14 March, will run until 28 March to help ensure essential goods remain reasonably priced during the festive period.
