Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced that the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) Phase 2 payments have been brought forward to today, 10 March
According to Harian Metro, recipients' bank accounts will be credited in stages starting today.
Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, explained that the early disbursement is intended to help 5.2 million recipients prepare for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri festivities.
This latest phase saw a significant bump in both funding and reach, with the government allocating RM1.3 billion compared with the RM1.1 billion spent during the first phase
The expansion includes 200,000 newly approved applicants who are set to receive their first slice of aid.
Collectively, the rollout covers 3.8 million households and 1.4 million single senior citizens, with payouts ranging from RM100 to RM600 depending on their specific eligibility category.
"Through STR, Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA), and SARA for All, the MADANI government continues to ensure that national revenue is shared and utilised by the people, especially those in need," Anwar said during the prime minister's monthly assembly in Putrajaya yesterday.
The Finance Ministry (MOF) noted that the total allocation for STR and SARA in 2026 has reached a staggering RM15 billion
This figure remains the highest ever recorded in the history of the federal government, underscoring a massive commitment to the nation's social safety net.
While the extra cash is a welcome relief, the ministry also issued a stern reminder for the public to stay vigilant against phishing links and scammers.
