A British couple visiting Kuala Lumpur has gone viral after sharing their comparison between Malaysia's MRT and the London Underground
In their video on TikTok, @the.backsnackers praised the MRT for being clean, safe, and comfortable — far surpassing what they're used to back home.
"After taking the MRT a few times, we felt we needed to make a video on it as it genuinely blew us away.
"Immediately, we were comparing every facet of their newer system to London's famous, yet antiquated, Underground," they said.

They were impressed by the spotless stations and trains, the comfort of air-conditioning, and that the tickets cost only a fraction of London's fares
"So much cleaner, so much tidier, and it has aircon! And it was only 50 pence (RM2.85). It's amazing. London needs to up its game," they said.
They also praised safety features such as women-only sections, gapless platforms, and automatic platform barriers that open in sync with the train doors.
They also expressed admiration for MRT's driverless system, saying it wouldn't be affected by strikes like those in London.

They noted one area needing improvement: however, passengers can't tap in with regular contactless payment and must buy a separate Touch 'n Go card
"But other than that, the MRT in KL really does blow London's Underground system out the water, and the UK could learn a thing or two from Malaysia," they said.

@the.backsnackers How does London Underground compare to the MRT system in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia? After taking the MRT a few times, we felt we needed to make a video on it as it genuinely blew us away. Immediately we were comparing every facet of their newer system to the London underground's famous, yet antiquated underground. The stations and trains are clean, there is air conditioning, improved safety for passengers, there are women only sections and all the boards are electronic to help you know exactly where you're going. Not to mention that it costs a fraction of the price of the London underground. One area which they do need to sort out is the fact that you can't use ordinary contact less cards on their gates however. But other than that, the MRT in KL really does blow London's underground system out the water and the UK could learn a thing or two from Malaysia. #mrt #londonunderground #transport #travel #traveltiktok #travelcouple #malaysia #malaysiatiktok #nowyouknow ♬ original sound – The Backsnackers 🎒
