A man from the United Kingdom has captured the attention of international automotive enthusiasts by entering a Proton Saga in the prestigious Hagerty Hill Climb 2025 event at Shelsley Walsh, UK

This iconic Malaysian car didn't just turn heads due to its uniqueness; it also completed the world's oldest hill climb track.

The man, Jon Coupland — who also owns the YouTube channel Jon Coupland Cars with his passion for collecting cars — shared his excitement on Facebook after driving the 1983 Proton Saga Iswara up the hill.

Acknowledging the absurdity of taking the manual car on a hill course, Coupland's caption reads: "Amazingly, this is NOT an AI generated image and I have just hill climbed a Proton."

The Hagerty Hill Climb is a prestigious motorsport event held anually

The event sees drivers compete individually to race their cars up a steep, winding uphill course as quickly as possible.

Given that Hagerty — a company well-known for classic car insurance and automotive lifestyle — is the sponsor, these events often feature a diverse and interesting mix of vehicles, ranging from vintage classics to modern sports cars, and sometimes even unique entries like the Proton Saga.

It's a notable event in the UK's motoring calendar.

Other classic cars that participated in the prestigious hill climb included the Porsche 911, E30 BMW M3, and more.
