Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was admitted to the National Heart Institute (IJN) at about 9.30am today, 6 January

He was admitted following a fall at his residence earlier this morning.

His press secretary, Suffi Yusoff, confirmed the incident, saying the 100-year-old statesman is under comprehensive medical observation.

"Yes, he was admitted to IJN due to a fall and is now in the process of overall monitoring," Suffi told the media.

This latest hospitalisation comes nearly six months after his previous admission on 13 July 2025

At that time, Dr Mahathir was treated for exhaustion after a 'Picnic & Potluck' event held in Putrajaya to celebrate his 100th birthday and his wife's 99th.
