Meth-Addled Trailer Driver Crashes Into Van, Killing 3 Family Members In Johor

A trailer driver is under investigation following a deadly crash in Segamat yesterday, 2 April, that claimed the lives of three family members

According to Bernama, the accident occurred at about 3.45pm at KM210 on Jalan Johor Bahru-Seremban, involving three vehicles.

The worst hit was on a van carrying five people, reportedly rear-ended by the trailer.

Three occupants, including a husband and wife, were confirmed dead at the scene by medical teams

Two other passengers sustained severe injuries and were rushed to Segamat Hospital for treatment.

Segamat district police chief Mohd Jumazanzahir Chek Ismail said the 28-year-old driver underwent a urine test immediately after the collision.

Initial screening results confirmed that the trailer driver was positive for methamphetamine

Following the findings, police are investigating under Section 44(1)(a) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which covers driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The driver also faces scrutiny under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Mohd Jumazanzahir confirmed that the suspect has been remanded for four days pending investigations.

Authorities have yet to release the names of the victims, who were aged between 20 and 70.
