This new system, known as the Automatic Fuel Adjustment (AFA), is officially replacing the existing Imbalance Cost Pass-Through (ICPT) mechanism

It's a way to align your bill with global coal and gas prices.

According to the TNB website, the AFA will be reflected monthly if there are any fluctuations in market fuel prices.

"The declaration of the AFA rate (in sen/kWh) shall be based on confirmation by the Energy Commission," the firm stated.

TNB also projected rates at -0.39 sen/kWh for May, -0.91 sen/kWh for June, and +0.08 sen/kWh for July

These estimates depend on official ministerial decisions and market shifts in the global energy market.

At the time of writing, Brent crude is trading at USD104.41 (RM421) per barrel, a figure that continues to influence how much Malaysians pay to keep the lights on.
