A fitness enthusiast has captured the Internet's attention — and plenty of bewilderment — by filming himself completing a 5.53km "run" entirely inside an aeroplane washroom during an 11-hour flight

Posted on TikTok, the video highlights the extreme lengths some people will go to maintain a rigorous training schedule, even while cruising at 30,000ft.

While long-haul flights are typically synonymous with sedentary rest or inflight movies, this particular passenger chose to occupy the cramped washroom for nearly an hour

Rather than using the space for its intended purpose, the runner engaged in a repetitive series of movements to simulate a workout.

Given the cramped nature of a standard aircraft washroom, the "run" consisted primarily of stepping up and down onto the toilet seat and moving in tight, dizzying circles.

The creator used Strava to document the feat, which recorded a total time of 59 minutes and 32 seconds

According to the sporting app's digital log, the influencer covered a distance equivalent to a 5km race without ever exiting the small compartment.

The stunt has since gone viral across multiple platforms, amassing over 1.4 million views on TikTok and a staggering 4.4 million views on X.

Public reaction to the video has been decidedly mixed, with the overwhelming majority of netizens questioning the necessity and etiquette of the act

The Internet pointed out that occupying a shared lavatory for an hour on a long-haul flight is a significant inconvenience to other passengers.

Aviation experts also often warn against unnecessary movement or standing in the cabin during flights due to the risk of unexpected turbulence, as well as hygiene concerns from stepping on aircraft fixtures.
