The one-off RM100 Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) credit for Malaysians aged 18 and above is entering its final month, and any unused balance will expire after 31 December

If you've barely used it (or even forgotten you had it), the SARA credit is stored directly on your MyKad and works like a cashless wallet for basic necessities.

The credit rolls over month to month, but the scheme ends on 31 December 2025, and any remaining balance will be wiped after that date.

Right now, you can still spend it at more than 7,300 participating outlets, from big supermarkets to mini marts and kedai runcit, but only on 14 categories of essential goods such as rice, hygiene items, household cleaners, and school supplies.

What you can buy with SARA

The 14 approved categories are:

  • Rice
  • Eggs
  • Instant noodles
  • Canned goods
  • Drinks
  • Seasoning products
  • Biscuits
  • Cooking oil
  • Bread
  • Hygiene products
  • Flour
  • Home cleaning essentials
  • Medications
  • School supplies

Meanwhile, the government has confirmed that all adult Malaysians will receive another RM100 SARA payment early next year

According to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the additional payment, expected to reach about 22 million Malaysians, will be distributed in mid-February 2026 to help cover expenses ahead of Ramadan and Chinese New Year.
