A wealthy durian tycoon in Thailand has gone viral after offering a 30,000 baht (RM3,800) reward for anyone who slaps his son's mistress
Arnon Rodthong, 65, who owns a massive durian processing business, posted the shocking offer on Facebook out of anger over his married son's infidelity.
According to Rodthong, his son, Chai, abandoned his wife and child for a woman identified as On, who worked as an accountant in the family company and had previously dated another family member.
Furious with the situation, Rodthong made the public announcement to seek "justice" for his daughter-in-law and to pressure his son to end the affair
"I will pay 30,000 baht to anyone who slaps my son's mistress. You must slap her at least 10 times," he said in his post.
"Once the job is done, come to me for payment. I'm even willing to cover any police fines incurred from slapping her. The reward is valid until Chai ends his relationship with her," he wrote.
Under Thai law, a simple assault is punishable by imprisonment or a fine of up to 40,000 baht (RM5,200)
Rodthong later showed a stack of one million baht (RM130,000) in cash to prove his seriousness.
However, he deleted the post after receiving advice against promoting violence.
Instead of the reward, Rodthong announced he was cutting ties with his son.
He stated his lawyer would reclaim all assets under Chai's name and transfer them to his granddaughter.
