Besut police chief Supt Rozaime Ab Rahim stated that the 19-year-old is believed to have died the same night his family lost contact with him

"Police believe the body is that of Ahmad Azreeq," Rozaime said, adding that his death may have resulted from a skidding incident involving the Yamaha R15 motorcycle he was riding.

Ahmad Azreeq was travelling from Kampung Batin to Cameron Highlands for a holiday with his family when he went missing

While his family travelled by car, he followed along on his motorcycle.

"The last time we saw Ahmad Azreeq was when we stopped at a fuel station in Kampung Saujana, Setiu," the teen's father, Ahmad Azhar Mohd Yusof, said to the New Straits Times.

"After that, I continued the journey ahead with the rest of the family. At about 12.30am, we stopped for food at Kampung Anak Ikan in Besut and contacted him, asking him to stop at the same eatery.

"However, we have been unable to reach him since then," the 59-year-old added.

Search efforts began after he failed to reach his destination. His last known location was a petrol station in Kampung Beting Lintang

CCTV captured him at the station at 1.38am on 6 March.

His body has since been taken to Besut Hospital for a post-mortem examination and formal identification.
