If you've ever driven through the busy roundabout connecting SS15, SS12, SS13, and SS14 in Subang Jaya, chances are you've experienced the daily crawl

Long regarded as one of the area's worst traffic bottlenecks, the junction may finally see some relief with a major upgrade planned later this year.
According to SJ Echo, local authorities have approved a traffic improvement project that will introduce a signalised system to better manage vehicle flow at the roundabout.
The plan has received the green light from the Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) as well as the New Pantai Expressway (NPE) concessionaire, with construction scheduled to begin in July 2026.
Works are expected to take about six months, with completion targeted by December 2026
If all goes according to plan, the upgraded system could be operational as early as January 2027.
The roundabout sits at a critical intersection between Persiaran Kewajipan and the NPE access road, making it a key route for daily commuters.
During peak hours, traffic from multiple directions converges here, often resulting in severe congestion.
Motorists travelling between USJ and SS12 are especially familiar with the delays, while the surrounding areas, including schools, commercial hubs, and Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC), add to the constant traffic volume throughout the day.

The improvement project will be carried out in stages to minimise disruption
According to the report, initial phases will focus on upgrading surrounding stretches, including widening key U-turns and improving traffic movement along Persiaran Kewajipan and nearby roads. These works aim to ease merging issues and improve circulation before vehicles reach the roundabout.
The final phase will convert the roundabout into a signalised junction, complete with multiple traffic lights to better regulate traffic flow.
This change is expected to reduce the chaotic merging that currently slows everything down.
Under the new system, some driving routes will be adjusted to improve efficiency
For example, motorists heading towards Bandar Sunway may need to make a U-turn at a designated point near the medical centre before continuing their journey.
Existing flyovers will remain as alternative routes.

While temporary disruptions are expected during the construction period, the upgrade is aimed at delivering long-term improvements
Once completed, the project is expected to ease congestion, improve travel times, and create a more organised flow through one of Subang Jaya's busiest intersections.
For many residents and daily commuters, it could mark a long-awaited upgrade to a junction that has tested patience for years.
