A stray dog in Batu Pahat is now receiving treatment after rescuers found it severely injured, with one leg missing and bone exposed

The rescue was carried out by Save The Strays Team, an animal rescue NGO based in Batu Pahat, after founder Eva received a rescue request on Saturday, 2 May.
According to the team, the dog was found in Parit Raja and is believed to have lost its leg possibly due to a trap.
In a post shared online, the rescue team described rushing to the location despite heavy rain.
"Received a distressing message, it was raining heavily on the way to the rescue site and we were worried we could not find the dog. Fortunately, when we reached the destination, the rain stopped and we found it around the corner," they shared.
The team managed to safely rescue the dog by gently luring it into a cage with food. They then took it to a veterinary clinic for urgent treatment.
"From saying hi to it in the cage, everything went smoothly, and the whole process didn't take more than 10 minutes. The dog knew we were helping it and didn't have to be afraid all the way to the vet," they shared.

At the clinic, veterinarians found that the dog would likely need an amputation due to the severity of the injury
However, surgery has been delayed after blood tests revealed the dog is also suffering from tick fever.
"The results showed tick fever, so surgery cannot be done yet. It now needs at least 10 days of treatment before another blood test to see if it's safe for surgery," they wrote.

For now, the dog remains under close observation while receiving treatment to stabilise its condition before doctors can proceed further

Save The Strays Team currently cares for more than 300 rescued dogs and cats at its shelter in Batu Pahat.
The NGO rescues abandoned, injured, and vulnerable animals, relying on public support to provide food, medical treatment, rehabilitation, and long-term care.
