S’porean Debt Collector Allegedly Stabs M’sian Driver In The Eye Over Stolen Vape

The victim's brother claimed that the suspect was under the influence of drugs.

A Singaporean debt collector, who also works as a social media influencer, allegedly assaulted his 21-year-old employee in a violent attack at Plaza Sentosa in Taman Pelangi, Johor Bahru on Saturday, 6 September

According to the The New Straits Times, the victim lodged a police report the following day, claiming he was beaten and stabbed in the eye with a broken bottle.

Graphic images of the victim receiving treatment at a Johor Bahru hospital have since gone viral.

In the photos, one of his eyes appeared blood-red, his head partially shaved for stitches on deep wounds, while bruises and additional stitches were also visible on his body and fingers.

The victim's brother said three days before the incident, the Singaporean man had hired his younger sibling as a private driver to transport him from Kuala Lumpur to Johor Baru

Upon arrival, the man went to an entertainment venue where the assault later occurred, and the victim followed him inside for work, reported the China Press.

The victim's brother claimed the suspect was under the influence of drugs, and that one of his friends had falsely accused the victim of stealing a vape device

He added that the friend ordered the victim to squat under a table to look for the missing device, but as soon as he complied, he was attacked.

The suspect allegedly smashed a bottle before stabbing the victim in the eye with its jagged edge and repeatedly jabbing him across the body

Johor Bahru South police chief ACP Raub Selamat confirmed the case, saying it is being investigated under Sections 326 and 394 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt and robbery with hurt.

"For now, we only have one side of the story. Investigations are still ongoing, and we will know the full picture once the suspect in his 40s is caught," Raub said.
