Single Mum & 2-Year-Old Child Found Dead In Penang Flat, Neighbours Thought They Had Moved
The mother was last seen alive by her younger sister around a month ago.
The decomposed bodies of a woman and her two-year-old child were discovered in a ninth-floor apartment unit along Jalan Bukit Gambir in George Town, Penang on Monday, 30 June
According to Berita Harian, the discovery was made after a neighbour reported a foul smell coming from the unit and alerted authorities around 4.41pm.
Northeast district police chief ACP Abdul Rozak Muhammad said officers from the Fire and Rescue Department and the police were deployed to the scene.
The bodies of the 40-year-old local woman and her young daughter were found decomposed in the master bedroom. They were believed to have been dead for some time.

The victim's younger sister, who identified herself only as Nor, said her sister had been living alone with her daughter following a divorce and was believed to be unemployed
"The last time I saw her was at the end of May," she told Berita Harian last night.

A neighbour on the same floor said she assumed they had already moved out, as the unit had been silent for some time
"She had previously mentioned plans to move and I once saw her carrying some belongings as if she was moving.
"She admitted the house was going to be auctioned and that she wanted to move to Seberang Perai, and after that, we never saw her again," she said.
The bodies have been sent to Penang Hospital for post-mortem, and the case has been classified as sudden death, pending the autopsy results.
