Shennongjia National Nature Reserve in Hubei province, known for its Unesco-listed landscapes and folklore about mysterious wildmen, has announced it's hiring 16 performers to role-play as 'savages' for tourists.
The gig pays 500 yuan (about RM300) a day, runs from July to August, and requires applicants to stay in character — no talking, only purring sounds allowed.
The job description reads like a wild mash-up of cosplay, survival training, and TikTok content creation.

Hires are expected to don primitive outfits, roam the woods, dance for tourists, and accept food offerings
They're also told to document their antics for social media.
The ad notes that those "who like to eat raw food" will be given priority. It also adds: "Those with an open personality, who are creative in shooting short videos and accustomed to living in the wild for a long time, will be preferred."

Working hours are from 8am to 5pm. Applicants must be in good health and ready to run if they encounter "unidentified creatures".
According to South China Morning Post, despite the niche requirements, more than 10,000 people have applied since 7 June.
The whole thing might sound surreal, but it's not even the first time this has happened. Another park in Liaoning province offered similar roles last year — proving that in China's tourism industry, weird sells.
