After swimming at the Rio Olympics, announcing that she was on her period (some countries, like China, still find menstruation a taboo) and winning the bronze medal for 100m backstroke, 20-year-old Fu Yuanhui instantly gained a heap of followers worldwide!

What made us follow Yuanhui's every move (yes we've been doing some stalking) is not her bronze medal nor the fact that she openly talked about having a period (which is SO great by the way!)…

"**Fu Yuanhui's comments have raised awareness, because Chinese society still approaches menstruation indirectly, even considering it unlucky**," said Chen Yaya, a feminist activist and researcher at the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences.

"But there's no need for this at all. The period is simply an everyday phenomenon," added Yaya, according to the [New York Times] (http://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/17/world/asia/china-fu-yuanhui-period-olympics.html?_r=0).

… what really drew us to Yuanhui, though, is the fact that she wore the WIDEST SMILE at the Olympics compared to her competitors who won the highest achievements! Now, that's something!

Yuanhui defied the "perfect no-teeth kind of smile" that has been filling up our feeds nowadays by showing her most crooked smile in every photo op!

Winning the bronze medal doesn't mean she has lost since her face filled with happiness says that she has won (our hearts)!

"I'm competing soon!!! I can do it!!! Yeah!!!"

For all the championships she has won, she told TheNanfang.com that the toughest competition she has ever had to face was her doubts

"**I've always been this way**. There have been lots of people who have criticized me, and that has gotten me depressed. All the same, I'm the way that I am. No matter what you say, I'll still be this way. **I like the way I am, and I love myself. Nothing else matters**," Yuanhui said.

What an inspiration you are, Fu Yuanhui!
Never change, Fu! Never change.
