A Sarawak man has been fined RM3,000 for violating a woman's modesty in a bizarre act
The 46-year-old suspect, Awang Ganing, was arrested around 2pm on 23 January after the 39-year-old victim lodged a police report.
China Press reported that on 18 January, the victim had accompanied her friend to a mortuary hall in Sibu for an Iban funerary ceremony called 'ngetas ulit' (the end of the mourning period), when the man suddenly approached and placed chicken wings on her chest.
The woman and her friend reportedly did not know the man, who also allegedly groped her.

The woman then lodged a police report, saying she felt humiliated and traumatised by the incident.
The man has since been charged under Section 509 of the Penal Code, which covers insults to a person's modesty or invasion of their privacy. Upon conviction, it carries a maximum of five years' imprisonment, a fine, or both.
Magistrate Romario Jonoi imposed a RM3,000 fine, or three months' imprisonment in default, after Awang pleaded guilty at the Sibu Magistrate's Court. The accused paid the fine.
