Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced several key initiatives to combat the rising threat of online scams and cybercrimes during the tabling of Belanjawan 2026 today, 10 October

He said a new Cybercrime Bill will be drafted to address cybercrime more comprehensively.

To ensure faster and more efficient handling of financial fraud cases, the National Scam Response Centre (NSRC) will now be led directly by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).

The prime minister added that the NSRC has been allocated RM12 million.

Meanwhile, a further RM20 million has been allocated to empower PDRM's D11 division, which tackles online child sexual exploitation

The allocation will be used to modernise digital forensic systems and expertise, as well as to establish a new Behavioural Science Unit to analyse criminal behaviour.

Additionally, the National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA) will establish a Centre for Cyber Security and Cryptology Development to strengthen the nation's digital sovereignty and cybersecurity.
