The government is rolling out the RM100 SARA aid today, 9 February
The Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) For All programme provides a one-off RM100 credit to all Malaysians aged 18 and above, with a total allocation of RM2.2 billion to help ease the rising cost of living.
The aid is expected to benefit more than 22 million adult Malaysian MyKad holders.

In a statement today, 9 February, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that the programme has been expanded to include frozen food items
This addition brings the total to 15 essential goods categories, increasing the number of items that can be purchased using SARA credit to 140,000 products.
Anwar said the government introduced several improvements after taking public feedback into account, aimed at enhancing purchasing convenience and flexibility.
By the end of the year, 10,000 retailers are expected to take part in the initiative, as the government works to increase participation among small retail shops and reduce the distance to the nearest participating store to within 7km.
Here are the 15 approved product categories:
– Rice
– Eggs
– Bread
– Cooking oil
– Biscuits
– Noodles
– Flour
– Beverages
– Seasoning
– Canned food
– Personal hygiene products
– Over-the-counter (OTC) medications
– School supplies
– Household cleaning products
– Frozen foods (local)

The RM100 SARA credit is valid for use until 31 December 2026
