Staff at a restaurant in Tawau, Sabah, are being praised after they were said to have intervened to stop a man from allegedly spiking a female customer's drink
The incident was shared by the owner of Pate Grill House on TikTok, where he recounted what happened and posted CCTV footage of the alleged act.
According to the restaurant owner, the man had approached the counter to ask whether his friend's drink was ready.
He claimed the man was then seen taking out a sachet from his pocket and pouring a liquid into the drink before placing it back on the counter.
The owner said his staff felt something was amiss and decided not to serve the drink. Instead, they prepared a fresh one and sent it to the woman.
He added that when the man later noticed that "nothing had happened", he returned to the counter to check if the correct drink had been delivered.

According to the owner, staff then pulled the woman aside to the restroom and informed her of what had allegedly taken place
The woman reportedly told staff that she had only known the man for a few days, and after hearing what happened, decided to leave immediately.
In the video, the owner praised his team for their quick thinking, saying their actions may have prevented a potentially dangerous situation
He also reminded women to remain cautious when going out.
The video has since garnered over 500,000 views. While some viewers questioned the authenticity of the incident, suggesting it could be a marketing stunt, many others commended the staff for their vigilance.
"Is this marketing, bro? Looks staged," one netizen commented.
"Good job, Pate staff. Not everyone is brave enough to take such action… May you continue to do good for others," wrote another.
"Feeling touched. Thank you to the alert staff! Thank you also to the boss for making this go viral so we can be more careful," said a third.
