A condominium resident in Bangkok released two snakes into a shared hallway after management ignored complaints about noisy pets

The incident happened at a condominium in the Ratchada area of Bangkok, Thailand.

The building has a strict no-pet policy. However, many tenants are said to have animals such as dogs, cats, and birds in their units, often causing disturbances due to noise, odour, and pests.

Complaints had reportedly been filed to management over several years, but no action was taken. Fed up with management's inaction, one resident decided to make a dramatic point.

They released two large snakes right in front of a lift in the hallway to discourage other residents from letting their pets roam in communal areas, reported Thaiger.

The act sparked heated discussion in the residents' chat group

Photos and videos of the snakes quickly went viral on social media. The species wasn't identified, but netizens speculated they might be expensive pet snakes, which only added to the absurdity of the situation.

While some supported the move, citing management's prolonged inaction, others criticised it as reckless and dangerous, saying it caused panic among those afraid of snakes, reported Thaiger.

Some argued that just like people are afraid of snakes, others are just as afraid of dogs and cats, and don't get to choose whether they hear barking at 3am or smell pet odours in shared spaces.

Others, however, said the stunt was too extreme and only added unnecessary panic to the building.

One post sarcastically stated, "If you walk your dogs around, I'll walk my snakes. Let the pets play together like one happy family. Maybe the snake will give the dog a loving hug, so tight it can't bark anymore."

Following the incident, the building's management issued fines to several pet owners who had previously been named in complaints

While pet owners who were previously reported for rule violations were fined 10,000 baht (about RM1,300) each and were told to remove their animals, the resident who released the snakes was also fined.
