After a nationwide outpouring of support, Persatuan Kebajikan Sri Saradha Devi Illam (SSDI) has raised RM800,000 to secure a permanent home for 54 girls who have called the Rawang shelter their sanctuary for decades
The fundraising initiative, launched to ensure long-term stability and security for the children, received widespread attention after SAYS highlighted the shelter's urgent need, mobilising Malaysians to contribute.
"This is a moment of gratitude and celebration," the organisation said in a statement to SAYS today, 16 January.
"The funds raised will be used exclusively for the purchase of a permanent property, safeguarding continuity, safety, and a stable environment for the children who have been nurtured by the home for over two decades."
Sri Saradha Devi Illam also expressed heartfelt thanks to donors, volunteers, media, influencers, and the public, acknowledging that every act of support, whether financial, through raising awareness, or through prayers, was vital in reaching the target.
"True service is done without noise or expectation. When hearts move in compassion and actions arise from selflessness, grace takes care of the rest," the home said.

With the fundraising officially concluded, the home will now proceed with the Sale and Purchase Agreement for the property
Official updates will be shared at key milestones, including the signing of the agreement and the successful transfer of ownership.
Verified updates will be posted on the home's official website and Instagram.
Although the property fundraising is complete, the home still depends on public support for its daily operations. Contributions towards meals, education, healthcare, utilities, and clothing remain crucial to the children's well-being.
