Putra Heights Fire Victim Says She Will Never Stay In The Area Again
"You will never see something like this again. The destruction is severe."
A tenant whose home was damaged in the gas pipeline fire at Taman Putra Harmoni in Putra Heights says she no longer wants to live in the area
"I don't want to stay in this area anymore," said Diyana Abdul Rahim, 29.
She was speaking to the media after visiting the scene at the Incident Control Post.
The accountant, who has been renting the house for four years, was left speechless upon seeing the condition of the property. According to the Fire and Rescue Department, the house sustained about 60% damage.
Diyana was in her hometown of Ipoh, Perak, when the fire broke out
Initially, she didn't think her home had been affected, as viral footage showed the flames some distance away. But she later learned from a WhatsApp group that the rental house she shared with six others was among those damaged, according to the New Straits Times.
Her father, Abdul Rahim Rashid, 58, was stunned by the extent of the destruction after arriving at the scene.
"I could hardly believe what I saw. The cars had melted, the roof was gone and the grass had turned black," he said.
"You will never see something like this again. The destruction is severe. It's beyond comprehension. I cannot describe it."
