The subsidy will appear on the pre-payment confirmation and final receipt, not on the pump display itself.

Petrol station operators are urging motorists not to panic if RON95 pumps display the full retail price starting today, 30 September, as the subsidised BUDI95 rate will be applied automatically for eligible Malaysians

Under the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) subsidy, eligible Malaysians will continue to pay RM1.99 per litre, even though the pump displays the unsubsidised price of RM2.60.

Petroleum Dealers' Association of Malaysia president Khairul Annuar Abdul Aziz told FMT that the subsidy will be reflected in the pre-payment confirmation and the final receipt, not on the pump display itself.

"The pump display will show the latest retail price but eligible motorists will automatically receive the subsidy," he said, adding that customers who need clarification can speak to the station's customer service.

The Finance Ministry previously said in its FAQ that Malaysians should not worry if they see a price difference between the display and the receipt.

For example, if the pump shows RM2.60 per litre, eligible motorists will still only be charged RM1.99 after the subsidy is applied.

The unsubsidised RON95 price has been set at RM2.60 per litre for October, up 55 sen from the current RM2.05

To qualify for the BUDI95 rate, Malaysian citizens aged 16 and above with active driving licences can verify their status using their MyKad, the same mechanism used for the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) aid.

Each motorist is entitled to 300 litres of subsidised RON95 per month, except for e-hailing drivers, who are exempt from the cap.
