In the effort to protect the marine environment, the Large Marine Vertebrates Research Institute Philippines ([LAMAVE] (http://lamave.org)) organized a campaign entitled, "[Their Future Our Future] (https://www.theirfutureourfuture.com/#!about-1/c7tk)"

The campaign aims to raise awareness about marine wildlife tourist interaction to protect the welfare of animals and ensure the growth of sustainable tourism in the country

Their Future Our Future also aims to release 5 one-minuter films focusing on iconic marine species alongside an interaction guideline delivered by the local communities at the heart of wildlife in the Philippines.

The first of the five films entitled, "Long Distance Relationship", stars the butanding (whale shark) and highlights why it is important to keep your distance when interacting with marine animals

The film features the Peoples Organisation of KASAKA from Pintuyan, Southern Leyte who lead whale shark watching tours in Sogod Bay.

The participating NGOs' social media efforts will encourage people to support the importance of the marine guidelines because we all have the #PowerToProtectPH – be it whale sharks, turtles or the future livelihood of the local communities

The campaign is funded by the Conservation Media Group, and is a collaboration between the [LAMAVE] (https://www.facebook.com/lamaveproject/?fref=ts), [Save Philippine Seas] (https://www.facebook.com/savephilippineseas/?fref=ts), [Marine Wildlife Watch of the Philippines] (https://www.facebook.com/marinewildlifewatchofthephilippines/?fref=ts), [Greenpeace PH] (https://www.facebook.com/greenpeace.philippines/?fref=ts), [Green Fins] (https://www.facebook.com/GreenFins/?fref=ts), [Responsible Tourism Philippines] (https://www.facebook.com/responsibletourismphilippines/?fref=ts), and [The Reef-World Foundation] (https://www.facebook.com/ReefWorldFoundation/?fref=ts).
