This is not the first time Ipoh has experienced such unexplained events, with a similar incident occurring on 21 October last year

At the time, residents reported loud booms and shaking across multiple areas, including Medan Istana, Tasek, Meru, Falim, and Tanjung Rambutan, around 11am.

According to Bernama, similar occurrences were also recorded in June 2012 and October 2018, all happening around the same time of day.

Meanwhile, the Perak Mineral and Geoscience Department (JMG) has ruled out quarry activity as the cause of the incident today

Director Nizarulikram Abdul Rahim stated that quarry blasting is only allowed between 12pm and 5pm on weekdays, while today's incident occurred at 10.30am.

"Checks by Perak JMG show that there was no quarry blasting activity at that time," he told Bernama.
