Police have confirmed that a suspect who recently assaulted his wife in Sungai Petani, Kedah, causing her to suffer a miscarriage, is the same man who beat his ex-wife into a coma in Johor in 2021
According to New Straits Times, the man allegedly attacked his 39-year-old wife at their home in Ambangan Heights last Thursday, 23 April.
The victim, who was 12 weeks pregnant, was rushed to Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital with severe facial and bodily injuries, resulting in a miscarriage.
The woman is believed to have been beaten with a clothes hanger, rubber hose, curtain rod, and a broom following a domestic dispute. The suspect is also believed to have fled with jewellery and savings amounting to RM50,000 after the incident.
The couple reportedly married in a neighbouring country last December but had not officially registered their marriage locally.
The case is being investigated under Section 325 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt.

"This is the same man as in the Johor case… Whatever leads we have, we are investigating from all angles. We are also actively working to track down the suspect," he said yesterday, 27 April, as reported by Bernama.
The suspect was previously convicted of causing grievous injury to Jahidah Nordin, his third wife from whom he is now divorced, and who has remained in a coma since the 2021 attack.
Jahidah, who was also pregnant at the time, suffered severe injuries after being assaulted at an apartment in Larkin, Johor, including brain bleeding that required part of her skull to be removed, as well as fractures to her jaw, spine, and ribs. The baby boy was delivered via caesarean section, but Jahidah, now 48, remains bedridden in a vegetative state.
On 4 November last year, the Johor Bahru High Court upheld the 10-year prison sentence against the suspect, Rosmaini Abd Raof, for causing grievous injury.
However, the sentence was temporarily stayed after his lawyer filed an appeal to the Court of Appeal, which was granted.

Rosmaini Abd Raof is escorted by police at the Johor Bahru Sessions Court during his trial in 2024.
