Shamsul Azri also did not give a date for the announcement, saying, "I'm not a magician. Just wait, because it's a surprise. It's fully locked and cannot be opened."

While it remains unclear what the announcement will be, some news reports have speculated that it may be related to upcoming judicial appointments.

Subang Member of Parliament (MP) Wong Chen hinted at this possibility in a series of Facebook posts. In one post, he expressed support for the Bar Council's protest to uphold judicial independence. In another, he revealed that he had spoken to Anwar about an undisclosed matter and urged the rakyat to wait for the official announcement.

Then, in a post today, 15 July, Wong stated that Malaysians need not wait another two days for the announcement, sharing an Utusan Malaysia headline claiming that Tan Sri Ahmad Terrirudin Mohd Salleh is not on the list of Chief Justice candidates.

Separately, government spokesman Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said Pakatan Harapan MPs were briefed on the issue involving the judiciary, stating that the meeting lasted two hours, reported FMT.

Anwar, meanwhile, said the meeting went "very well".
