On 18 July, [Pia Wurtzbach] (http://says.com/ph/showbiz/pia) paid her courtesy call on the new president of the Philippines, President Rodrigo Duterte, at the Malacañang Palace
The first Mindanaoan Miss Universe discussed with the president the possibility of the next Miss Universe Grand Coronation Night in the Philippines. They exchanged a conversation in their local language since Wurtzbach is a Cagayan de Oro native and [Visayan] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visayan_languages) is her first language.

The new Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo joined the meeting and was supportive to the Miss Universe 2015's idea
Teo [told] (http://www.philstar.com/headlines/2016/07/15/1602980/philippines-eyes-hosting-miss-u-pageant) the STAR, "The president agreed that sponsoring the event would be a tourism marketing coup with the Philippines' Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach at the helm. Sponsoring Miss Universe is our focus right now, with the plan and sources of funding in tow".
Teo said once Wurtzbach announces that Miss Universe is going to be held in the Philippines, people abroad will start looking at the map to see where the Philippines is located.

Yesterday, Wurtzbach posted a photo showing her fingers crossed with the caption, "We had a little chat with the President of the #Philippines …let's just say, we've got our fingers crossed".
Once everything is settled, the month-long beauty pageant will be filmed in various Philippine tourist sites
