A lorry caught fire along the KL-Karak Highway earlier this morning, 16 July, bringing traffic heading into Kuala Lumpur to a near standstill

According to Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (Operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar, they received a distress call about the incident at 7.24am.

"A fire engine and 10 firemen were dispatched.

"They arrived at 8.08am and began operations to extinguish the fire," he said, adding that the vehicle was already fully engulfed in flames by the time the team arrived.

The Malaysian Highway Authority confirmed in a Facebook post that the fire took place at KM35.1 of the highway

Motorists were advised to plan their routes accordingly, as the incident caused a massive traffic build-up during the morning rush.
