Perak Man Found Charred After Early Morning Fire

The body was sent to the police and a fire investigation is underway.

A 78-year-old man was found dead in a fire at Jalan Selat in Teluk Intan

According to New Straits Times, the victim, Tan Ah Lang, was found dead on a bed.

The victim was believed to be trapped when the fire happened at 4.40am

Teluk Intan Fire and Rescue Department chief Ismail Yunus told Bernama that a distress call was received at 4.42am.

He said that a team of firefighters from Teluk Intan and Hutan Melintang, assisted by the Volunteer Fire and Rescue Force, rushed to the scene after the call.

Two houses were involved in the burning when the firefighters arrived

Ismail told Bernama that one house was razed about 90% while the other house was burned only 10%.

"Around 6.30am, we found a charred corpse of a man in the middle of the house."

He also said that the body has been handed over to the police, the cause of the fire and total damages are still being investigated.
