A man from eastern China has become a viral sensation after turning his life around by following the intense training routine from the Japanese manga, One-Punch Man

Li Shuangyong, who once called himself a 'life loser', was in debt and divorced after his fish farming business collapsed. Feeling lost, the 36-year-old found inspiration in the manga's hero, Saitama.

According to Men's Health, he committed to the character's simple but brutal workout: 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and a 10km run every single day for 1,000 days.

Beginning on 24 August 2021, Li documented his journey by filming his daily progress and sharing it on social media, quickly attracting over a million followers who were inspired by his dedication

The journey was not easy. Li faced severe financial hardship, revealing he ran in shoes that cost less than 10 yuan (RM5.90) and survived on a diet of instant noodles.

"I had to save myself. I could not keep living like that. It could not get any worse," he said, according to Jiupai News.

His perseverance attracted sponsors, supporters, and even a new girlfriend whom he met during a marathon

On 19 July 2024, he completed the challenge and celebrated by shaving his head to look like Saitama.

The creator of One-Punch Man, ONE, even praised him on X, formerly Twitter, writing, "Your willpower is incredible! Congratulations."
