A malfunctioning building fire-prevention system reportedly forced firefighters to rely on two portable pumps and a fire engine pump to reach the affected unit

After the fire was brought under control, firefighters discovered the body of a man, who had suffered full-body burns.

Medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene, and his remains have been handed over to police for further investigation.

Approximately 1,500 sq ft of the condominium unit was reportedly destroyed.

The Fire and Rescue Department's Forensics Unit is investigating the cause of the fire.
