Firefighters, alerted via the NG999 digital emergency response system, battled the blaze for hours, which was reportedly brought under control around 2.03am.
Electricity on several floors above and below the affected unit appeared to have been cut off, leaving residents in darkness.
The extent of the fire and whether it spread to other units remains unclear.

A malfunctioning building fire-prevention system reportedly forced firefighters to rely on two portable pumps and a fire engine pump to reach the affected unit
After the fire was brought under control, firefighters discovered the body of a man, who had suffered full-body burns.
Medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene, and his remains have been handed over to police for further investigation.
Approximately 1,500 sq ft of the condominium unit was reportedly destroyed.
