A lion from Kenya is going viral for its natural curls, which are a rare sight in the wild

The male lion, identified as Nzuri, son of Olepolos, was photographed at Kenya's Masai Mara wildlife reserve sporting its glorious curly mane.

The images and videos were taken by Kambiz Cameo Pourghanad, a pilot who dabbles in wildlife photography as a passion.

"Mark my words, Nzuri currently is and will be one of the most beautiful lions in Masai Mara and he will be ranked in Africa along with Bon Jovi, King Moya, and Blondie," Pourghanad posted on Instagram.

Nzuri is a former member of the Topi Pride who has since separated from his tribe

The feline has six other siblings; however, he is believed to be the only one sporting natural curls.

Pourghanad's breathtaking images of the lion have since gone viral, wowing the Internet.

"He's one gorgeous lion – one of my favs from Mara," one user commented.

Pourghanad hopes that Nzuri's images will help bring awareness in keeping Kenya's lions safe

"If Nzuri has touched your heart, I urge you to join me or your own favourite animal protection organisation in protecting them. Every small action counts, and together we can make a difference," said Pourghanad.

According to a 2019 study led by Panthera, 35% of lions are killed for their body parts like teeth, skin, and bones.

The remainder of the killings are due to human-lion conflict which is often caused by habitat loss.
