Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak will continue serving his jail sentence at Kajang Prison after the High Court today, 22 December, dismissed his judicial review application for house arrest
Najib was seeking to enforce a royal addendum that would have allowed him to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest.
However, the High Court rejected Najib's application, effectively ruling that there was no legal basis for the alleged supplementary order to be enforced.
The decision means Najib will remain incarcerated as he continues serving his sentence stemming from the SRC International corruption case.
Najib had filed the judicial review to compel the government to recognise and implement what his legal team claimed was a royal addendum linked to a Federal Territories Pardons Board decision, which he argued entitled him to serve his sentence at home.
Following the ruling, Najib was seen conferring briefly with his lead counsel, Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, before embracing his youngest son

Najib has been serving his sentence at Kajang Prison since August 2022. His original 12-year jail term in the SRC International case was previously reduced to six years following a decision by the pardons board.
